The 8th legislative house of Oshodi-lsolo Local Government led by leader Hon.Rasheed Obasa in collaboration with the CDC’s and CDA’s today recorded a remarkable achievement which is a milestone on how adequate security of lives and properties in Oshodi Communities can be guarantee through effective participation of the people in domestication of security.

The proposed bye law that would enhance adequate security within the Communities of oshodi which was subjected to public hearing for input from the people before ratification was held today at the CDS hall in the Local government today.

The leader of the House in his welcome Address appreciated the effort of the Executive Chairman Hon Bolaji Muse Ariyoh for his initiative towards making Oshodi community a secured environment for every one and his other laudable program mes within few weeks in office, he explored the participants to see the importance of the proposed bye law and encouraged them to give it a deep analysis and debate.

In his address, Honorable Bolaji Muse Ariyoh Said” this proposed bye law has been in pipe line for sometime now but thank God that with the cooperation of the legislators, CDC, CDA and the people we are able to achieve this feet together”

He further explained that if the proposed bye law become a law financing, employment of security personnel and prosecution of the defaulters would be responsibility of the CDC in conjunction with the police as CDC is now empowered by law in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government a development he said would be emulated by other Local govt and LCDA in Lagos.

After deliberations this are some of the issues raised for consideration for the lawmakers before ratifying the bill to law
1. The minimum number of security to be employ by any street shall not be less than 2, while the maximum number shall be determine by the CDA concerned.

2. Enlistment of the security personnel shall be sole responsibility of the CDA, CDC with impute from Nigeria police if necessary.

All enlisted security personnel must be adequately trained and functions specified to conform with existing laws.

3. CDC and CDA should determine the wages of security personnel employed

4, CDC and CDA should determine security levy to be paid by each house in each of the streets in each CDA and be empowered to collect such levy

5. The default period on payment of levy and process by which a residence or compound would be subjected to prosecution should be stated.

6. Prosecution of defaulters or arrest of whoever breach the
security of the community are responsibility of the CDC in collaboration with Nigeria Police.

6. CDC are to always liaise with Nigeria Police regularly on security matters.

7. CDC board are to be established to manage, monitor security funds contributed by the people and act as liaison between the Local Government Authority and Nigeria police.

CDC are subjected to Local Government Authority supervision and advice where necessary.

The clerk of the house announced that individual and groups can still forward their written contributions on the subject matter to the clerk of the house for the next 7 days .

All the leaders and elders of the communities that are present expressed their joy on the laudable step taken on security of life and properties in Oshodi communities by Hon Bolaji Muse Ariyo administration.

They however Implored everyone to continue to support the administration and prayed that Allah would continue to give him wisdom to steer the ship of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government to greater height.
